There is no doubt that the extended wetweather from rain and snow melt has cut into ammonia use,on both sides of the Mississippi River. More aggressive pricingfor spot ammonia is unlikely to help move new tonnes asresellers in the region are concerned about their ability tomove all of the pre-paid ammonia this season. However, someof the forward purchased ammonia will be used as side-dresson corn acres after the crop emerges. Farmers who have notplanted corn yet will not delay to apply ammonia once weatherclears, but will want to plant their crops immediately instead.Some are expected to choose to apply urea rather thanammonia, as it can be applied when the corn is planted, unlikeammonia.
