Ukraine authorities drop KIP to $307/t fob

Higher asking prices for urea this week were moving Ukrainian producers closer to being able to compete for open demand at the KIP fixed at $340/t fob in the Black Sea for the first half of the month. Quantities sold earlier by producers and traders at lower numbers were however blocked from shipment until 13 February, when the revised KIP at $307/t fob was approved by the authorities. The lack of prompt and forward sales had resulted in a build-up of inventory at Yuzhnyy, with 85,000t stored in warehouses and railcars in the port and at adjacent railheads. A temporary ban on further railcar entries is in effect. The situation is now expected to improve, as nominations against the above sales will be abundant.
