Tunisia: Rock and downstream production suspended at most sites

All rock production and most downstream production in Tunisia has now been suspended. GCT meanwhile is looking at ways to resume production. As of May 5 all operations at CPG, from the phosphate rock mines to the company's headquarters, were halted. Unions released a press statement announcing the suspension of work from this date until the situation in the Gafsa region is resolved. As has been documented in Fertilizer Week since December, a series of strikes and sit-ins has steadily paralysed the activitities of both CPG and GCT.
