As multiple branches of the U.S. government place increasing priority on food safety, new legislation could change Food and Drug Administration methods and infrastructure. In testimony to a working group on import safety, the author said FDA's currentdecentralized surveillance should be replaced by an integrated electronic platform that would free staff to further communicate with stakeholders regarding food safety solutions.
