Fish Oil Replacements Shift Fatty Acid Content of Farmed Fish

The replacement of fish oil in feeds alters the nutritional profiles of farmed fish. Fish oil provides omega-3 fatty acids, while plant oils contain shorter-chain omega-9s andomega-6s. Since fatty acids from feed are deposited in fish tissue, the challenge is to determine how and when to feed plant or fish oils to maintain desirable omega-3 levels in fillets.
