Serbia loo'ks to International Standards to support service sector growth

The services sector in Serbia grew from 26.8% of GDP in 1970 to nearly 40.0 % in 2004, and now contributes significantly to the economic growth of the country. Privatization, restructuring and economic modernization have focused greater importance on the sector, and on the development and implementation of relevant standards. In response, the Institution for Standardization of Serbia (ISS) works to develop new standards in accordance with international norms. This article presents a brief overview of tourism, banking and commercial trade - the most dominant in the Serbia services sector. They are key to the development of the Serbian economy.
