Mugher Cement and China's Sinoma sign capacity upgrade for Ethiopian cement plant

Ethiopia: Mugher Cement Enterprise (MCE), a government cement factory, has signed a 129.97m US dollars(Euro99.2m) contract agreement with Sinoma Co Ltd, a Chinese international engineering company, to enable it to upgrade its production capacity. A third production line will be built at Mugher, some 35km west of the capital, and a cement grinding and packing plant at Tatek, 10km west of Addis Ababa. Under the contract agreement the Chinese company will complete the capacity upgrading project in 21 months time and the enhanced line will start to produce as much as 3000 tons of clinker per day which is 1.4Mt of cement per annum, according to MCE General Manager Tefera Abebe.
