In mid-September, The DeLong Co., Inc. completed the second phase of a two-year project aimed at modernizing its nearly 45-year-old grain elevator in Waterman, IL.According to Kent Hamm, who has managed the Waterman facility since it was purchased in 2008 by The DeLongCo., there had not been any major renovations at the facility since the 1990s."We started to run out of storage space the past few years, and our old dryer has been around since the early '70s, so we were due," says Hamm, who also manages four other DeLong elevators in northern Illinois: Mi-nooka, Maple Park, Kirkland, and Cortland.
