UK: Green homes scheme hit as firm goes bust

The main contractor of the Warmup Bristol scheme, Climate Energy, has gone into administration, leaving hundreds of customers in the lurch. The Warmup Bristol scheme was set up by Bristol City Council in 2014 amid a fanfare of publicity and government backing. It was funded with a Euro9.85m grant to help residents carry out improvements around the home, such as cladding, improved insulation and repairs to heating systems. According to the latest reports, an estimated 4200 homes have enquired about the scheme and 500 houses have signed up for work to be carried out. Bristol city council is working through the figures to establish a list of priority customers, especially people with ongoing works in their homes.
