As some of you may know, I have long been sceptical of Chinese statistics. Global Gypsum Magazine reports the numbers, but I'm afraid I don't necessarily believe in them. Chinas economy is now the size of Japan's, not ten times larger, and although there are many large cities and the east coast is well-developed, there are still 300m farmers and 150m people who live on less than $2/day in China.
