The global gypsum industry is continuing to look for new and innovative ways to increase productivity and decrease costs. Automation solutions are continuously evaluated as an option for achieving these goals. One such automation technology is the use of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs). AGVs have been around for six decades and have continued to become more advanced. They have also become more flexible, user-friendly and cost effective. This article gives an overview of what AGVs, their history and operation, as well as how gypsum industry clients (and others) can benefit from their use.
