Letter to the Editors Delayed bezafibrate-induced angio-oedema in a 68-year-old man

Bezafibrate is a commonly used drug in the treatment of dyslipdaemia and is generally considered safe. We report a case of angio-oedema occurring after 10 h ingestion of a slow-release formulation of bezafibrate in a 68-year-old man suffering from hypertriglyceridaemia, hypertension and gout, necessitating trachoestomy for relief of respi-ratory obstruction. To our knowledge, there have been no previous reports of angio-oedema to this drug; two cases of anaphylactic reactions have been reported in the litera-ture.
