Harold Balazs and his Enamellist Friends!

The Art Spirit Gallery in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was the site of a large and varied enameling exhibition in April and early May, 2012. Sixteen U.S. enamellists were invited to send several pieces. Enamellists included Harold, of course, Mary Chuduk, Delia DeLapp, Allen Dodge, Mary Dee Dodge, Jan Arthur Harrell, Michael Horswill, Lynn Hull, John Killmaster, Cheryll Leo-Gwin, Barbara Minor, Sarah Perkins, Averill Shepps, Judy Stone, and Jean Tudor. Works included vessels and plates, jewelry, sculpture, and wall pieces both large and small. This viewer's reaction is all positive. There may be a weak point or two on an individual piece, but there is not a weak artist in the group. The work in general is awe-inspiring and we are fortunate to have seen such a strong representation of the early 21st century enameling world.
