Canada: gneiss monolith installed at the University of Waterloo, Ontario

Alan Morgan, Joe Melo & Peter Russell write At 11.00 a.m. on 1 December 2001, a slender monolith of gneiss (Figs 6 and 7) was installed in the foundation of the Center for Environmental and Information Technology on the University of Waterloo campus. The slab of gneiss will be a major feature of the exhibit atrium, the new home of the Earth Sciences Museum. Jose Melo, owner of AllStone Quarry Products Inc. of Schomberg. Ontario, notes that this is the tallest rock successfully extracted from their quarry and installed elsewhere. AllStone Quarry is in Bigwood Township, north of the French River, near Sudbury, Ontario.
