Saudi Aramco switches focus from oil to gas to meet domestic demand

Saudi state oil company Aramco has switched its focus from oil to gas to meet domestic demand by increasing gas developments while slowing down on oil activities. Saudi Aramco’s gas developments are part of a five-year plan to increase gas production in the Kingdom from 6.2 Bcf to 9. Bcf/d by 2015. Saudi gas demand is increasing 7% annually, with domestic demand around 7.5 Bcf/d in 2008.
