The Chinese yuan is 'no longer undervalued' and greater exchange rate flexibility is encouraged in the future, according to a recent report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). China has made progress in recent years in reducing its large current account surplus and accumulation of foreign exchange reserves, says the IMF, though it suggests that China's external position is still 'moderately stronger than consistent with medium-term fundamentals and desirable policies'.
