Ring Model of the Electron: Extension to Include Mass

A toroidal ring model produces the electron rest mass m_e , via EM energy propagating in a helical toroidal path at a relativistic velocity very close to c . Circumferential tension in a geometrically closed, curved metric, is in equilibrium with a radial electric field at the strong force scale. A quantum mass energy m_qc~2 at 6.79 MeV is derived. The fine structure constant, α, is shown to be the far field result of a near field relativistic distribution of energy about the particle's three axes, ( α~(2/3), α~(2/3), α~(-1/3)) he / r = αhc / r = e~2 / r = m_ec~2. The electron rest mass derives from the metric curvature about the particle's x and y axes, giving m_ec~2 = 2α~(2/3)m_qc~2 = 0.511 MeV.
