ION Engineering Wins U.S. DOE Grant for Novel CO2-Capture R&D

Colorado-based ION Engineering announced September 25 that it won a US$15 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to test a novel solvent-based chemistry that would capture 1 megawatt (MW) equivalent of carbon dioxide (CO2) at a Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) power plant in Nebraska. “ION and partners will contribute another $4 million in matching funds bringing the total to $19 million for the 45-month project,” according to the company. “In addition to NPPD, partners include the University of North Dakota Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC) and the University of Alabama Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.
