Refinery technology vendor Axens and coal-to-liquids(CTL) technology developer Headwaters are promotinga novel coal/residual oil co-processing scheme that couldopen up new possibilities for motor fuels from relativelylow-value feedstocks.In an April 17 paper for the World CTL Conference inBeijing, the companies outlined a scheme that would in-volve co-processing of a 50/50 blend of bituminous coaland residue from Canadian oil-sands bitumen.
