Coal-Resid Co-processing by Simulated Delayed Coking

A series of coals and petroleum rcsid were co-proccsscd under simulated delayed coking conditions to investigate retrogressive reactions and soluble product composition. Exploratory tests identified a system with the propensity to produce two and three-ring aromattcs in the liquid products. However, there appears to be little or no correlation between coal behavior and common parameters such as rank or plasticity.
