ERP VS SCE: Which is Right for Your Company?

Most Tier 1 companies today have an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in place, as do smaller ones. But these enterprises have many questions to answer about their ERP and what it is doing for the company. Can an ERP system meet supply chain execution (SCE) needs, or does that take the technology of a "best-of-breed" SCE vendor? Can current systems do it or do companies need to upgrade or change technology? Where is there the most gain for the least pain? How can it be done in short time with a solid return on investment (ROI)? Companies need to increase revenue, improve service levels, and reduce costs -- and company leaders are increasingly turning to their supply chain for help. Implementing SCE technology, such as warehouse management systems (WMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and yard management offers these benefits and more, but more information is needed before spending money on the SCE.
