PSC rejects rehearing on SCE&G nuclear units,but S&P cites the cost in downgrading company

It was a breakeven week for South Carolina Electric & Gas’nnuclear plans as the Public Service Commission refused tonreconsider its February 11 decision approving two new units,nbut Standard & Poor’s Ratings downgraded the utility andnholding company Scana because of the nuclear program.nAlso last week Scana reported record first-quarter net income.nOn April 21, the PSC rejected petitions by Friends of thenEarth, an industrial group and an individual to reconsidernapproving SCE&G’s plan to add two units at the V.C. Summernnuclear station it co-owns with the South Carolina PublicnService Authority (Santee Cooper).
