摘要

The germination of plum pollen in vitro (cultivars Cacaks Fruhe, Cacaks Schone, Ortenauer, Stanley and Valjevka, grown in Germany) was used as a criterion to measure pollen quality. Some of the cultivars exhibited 20% germination whereas others exhibited up to 70% germination. Percentage germination was cultivar dependent over a wide range of pH. The typical germination percentage of cultivars did not decline during 3 weeks of storage in a refrigerator (4deg C) if complete flowers were stored; viability declined with longer periods of storage. Fresh plum pollen can be stored to enable pollination of late flowering cultivars with pollen from early flowering cultivars.
