Pollen germination of some plum (Prunus domestica L.) cultivars under different temperatures

The present study was carried out in order to get some information about how the most frequently utilized pollinizers in Norway behave under different temperatures. Germination was recorded at 5 and 24 h at the temperatures 10,13,16, and 19°C. 'Edda'and 'Jubileum' had the lowest germination percentages of the cultivars studied, whereas 'Victoria' and 'Excalibur' had the highest germination percentages. Germination percentage was higher when recorded at 24 than at 5 h at all temperatures, and this was more pronounced at lower temperatures than at higher temperatures.
