Luxembourg-based investment house LetterOne Group is in negotiations to acquire equity in fields in the Norwegian North Sea owned by Germany's Eon - in a deal that would be worth around US $1.2 Bn if it goes ahead, according to reports. Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman's LetterOne, which has former BP boss Lord Browne running its energy unit, has ambitions to become a global oil and gas player by taking advantage of the collapse in crude prices to buy assets at attractive prices.
