CPChem begins restart of second alpha-olefins unit at Cedar Bayou

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem; The Woodlands, Texas) is starting up the NAO-1798 linear alpha-olefn (LAO) unit at its Cedar Bayou facility in Baytown, Texas, according to a fling with the Texas Commission on Environmental (TCEQ). LAOs are key feedstocks for the production of high-density polyeth- ylene (HDPE). The LAO unit, one of four that CPChem operates at Cedar Bayou, has been ofine since late August, when the facility was shut down in preparation for Hurricane Harvey.
