The Swiss Federal Council introduced a new mandatory declaration for foodstuffs produced in Switzerland according to foreign technical regulations1. The "Swiss Cassis-de-Dijon-Principle" based on the Federal Law on Technical Obstacles for Trade (SR 946.51) allows the marketing of foodstuffs in compliance with technical regulations in the EU or any of its Member States. A Swiss food producer may follow the same rules of such authorisations that are issued in the form of administrative regulations.
