Modelling production subsystems at high abstraction level - reviewing summary. I. Basic considerations and approaches

Modelling of vegetable production in the Institute of Vegetable Crops (now Institute of Biological Production Systems, Section Vegetable Systems Modelling), Leibniz Universitat Hannover, Germany, over the last 35 years, resulted in numerous theses and articles, using different approaches, computer techniques and software, complicating a survey. Part I of this contribution attempts to review and summarize the approaches and experiences with respect to the basic conditions to facilitate further research.
