Hildegard Dorn-Petersen acts as a spa consultant for the German spa market. Her thoughts will shortly be shared as part of the Global Spa Summit, to be held in New Delhi from 4-7 October. Dorn-Petersen shares some of her views on the German wellness industry, past and present, from her upcoming paper exclusively with ECM's readers. "Germany has a long tradition when it comes to cures and healing springs, tracing all the way back to the 16th century. By 1900 Wiesbaden was a 'world spa' with around 136,000 visitors a year, followed by Baden-Baden with about 72,000 guests. Today many spa destinations mourn these glorious halcyon days but they can still be proud of their sources and effective spa remedies today.
