We would like to dedicate this editorial to a non-traditional subject: the rejected manuscript! Instead of commenting upon the most remarkable article(s) of the issue, we decided to comment on the many submitted manuscripts that do not survive the peer-review process. Often causes of rejections could have been foreseen and would not have led to unnecessary burdens upon investigators, journal staff, editorial board and last but not least upon our extremely busy and valuable peer-reviewers.
