The definition of biological diagnostics of soils is given. The possibility of using a set of biological parameters based on the study of soil microfauna (Protozoa), algoflora, and biochemical activity for the purposes of biological diagnostics and monitoring of virgin and anthropogenically transformed soils is discussed. Approaches to ecological standardization of soil-biotic systems for the assessment and prediction of ecological situations and for intelligent management of natural resources are considered.
