摘要

A variability study involving 12 varieties of tomato was carried out during 2005 in different quality characters like polar and equatorial diameter of fruit, ratio between equatorial and polar diameter of fruit, pericarp thickness, pulp weight, juice weight, number of locules, average fruit weight, total soluble solids and acidity content of fruit pulp. High heritability coupled with high genetic advance as percentage of mean was recorded for average fruit weight, indicating the control of such character by additive gene. On the other hand, high heritability coupled with low genetic advance as percentage of mean were recorded for rest of the characters except pericarp thickness, indicating most of the characters were governed by non-additive genetic components.
