Combining ability analysis for quality characters was carried out in rice through Line x Tester analysis of twenty four crosses developed by crossing four lines and six testers. Hybridization was done to produce P, hybrid seed during rabi of 2010-11.Evaluation of genotypes was carried out during kharif of 2011. The lines and testers were significantly varying for most of the characters. Combining ability analysis revealed predominance of non-additive gene action was observed for milling per cent, head rice recovery, L/B ratio, kernel breadth after cooking, kernel elongation ratio, water uptake and volume expansion ratio offers scope for exploitation of heterosis, while hulling per cent, kernel length, kernel breadth, kernel length after cooking andalkali spreading value were predominantly controlled by additivegene action. The estimates of gca effects indicated that, among females, Samba Mahsuri and Warangal Samba and among males JGL 11727 are good general combiners. Among the crosses high sea values was registered by Samba Mahsuri x Jagtial Samba for qualitycharacters. The crosses Akshayadhan x Cotton Dora Sannalu, Warangal Samba x Early Samba. Akshayadhan x Early Samba and Akshayadhan x JGL-11727 exhibited positive values for some quality characters.
