摘要

In this study the emergence of the critical status of crack growth in the chevron-notch fracture test on elastic-plastic materials is discussed. The theoretical analysis and experimental results showed that the critical crack length forelastic-plastic materials is not a constant, and that it is not only a function of material properties, but also a function of the speed of crack growth. In particular, it is shown theoretically that for elastic-plastic materials the critical status ofcrack growth often occurs after the peak load.
