摘要

Lining wear monitoring is an effective way of maximizing the lifetime of ladle-lining, improving the safety and cutting refractory costs at the same time. Reliable and accurate ladle wear measurements enable operators to rapidly analyze material wear and to locate areas needing repair. Thus, the optimization of spraying material and gunning process improve the efficiency of refractory repair. The LaCam system has become an integral part of the steel-making process at Aldwarke.With the system, the steelplant increased the lifetime of the ladle refractory up to 37 percent and the period when veneer (repair) was purposely increased to 83 percent.Other applications for wear monitoring are available. The use of monolithic refractory linings increases the necessity of laser scanning systems which provide security in conjunction with economic viability.In the future, a new LaCam system for the furnace bath scanner of the electric arc furnace is projected.
