摘要

Air induction in iron- and steel-making is key to proper mill function. Correctly engineered systems that allow air inlet and cooling into process areas and allow an optimized rate of air chahges are essential, ensure proper functionality for the life cycle of the process, and allow the demonstration of conformity with occupational hygiene standards. Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations can demonstrate, coupled with traditional calculations and physical modeling, the optimization of mill ventilation and the reduction of total cost, while ensuring that the proper solution is in place for the life cycle of process equipment. Research has developed a number of inlet louvers which maximize the natural throughput of air safely achievable through the most efficient method possible.
