摘要

The International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) has announced that world crude steel output reached 1,343.5 million metric tons for the year 2007. This is an increase of 7.5 percent on 2006. The total represents the highest level of crude steel output in history and it is the fifth consecutive year that world crude steel production grew by more than 7 percent. While the overall output remains high, 2007 has seen a small slowdown in the growth rate, year-on-year growth peaking at the end of the first quarter. This slowdown in growth was seen in nearly all the major producing countries and regions including China, EU, CIS and the US. The exception was in the Middle East where production growth accelerated during the second half of the year.
