Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant delayed by another two years

The public row on construction overruns in building the Olkiluoto 3 nuclear power plant, between Finland's Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) and the plant supplier AREVA-Siemens, continued with the exchange of statements on progress from both sides in February. TVO said that recent progress reports received from AREVA-Siemens suggest that the start of the regular electricity production from Olkiluoto 3 may now be postponed until year 2016, following an earlier postponement to 2014. Worse, the instrumentation and control (l&C) design has not proceeded as planned and therefore the plant completion may be further delayed, added TVO.
