The Titan 130 mobile power unit was installed in the heart of Australia's red centre, at the Ron Goodin Power Station in Alice Springs. The Titan, sourced from Solar Turbines Incorporated, is the Power and Water Corporation's generation solution for the town's growing power needs. The Titan is the third mobile power unit to be installed in the Territory - last August Power and Water installed two smaller mobile Taurus units each capable of generating 3.9MW. Power and Water Generation general manager John Linton said that while the Titan is set to become a permanent fixture in Alice Springs, the Taurus sets will be moved. "Eventually the Taurus sets will be moved to augment the power supply at the smaller township of Tennant Creek, which is around 500km north of Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway," said Mr Linton.
