To the Editors of IUBMB Life: Correspondence concerning an alleged erratum in a review on the genetic code

I am reporting a significant technical erratum in one of your published articles, a critical review by Koonin and Novozlhilov entitled ‘‘Origin and Evolution of the Genetic Code: A Universal Enigma’’- 61(2): 99–111 (2008). In Figure 2, the authors present what they claim to be an optimized and more robust version of the standard genetic code produced by a computer algorithm. It is no such thing, as even a cursory inspection reveals.
