Aerobiological Approach To Pathogenic Fungal Spores Over Groundnut Field

An extramural survey of airborne microbial components was conducted over the ground nut (Arachys hypogea L. Var. SBII) field at Walunj, Ahmednagar in order to assess the disease incidence to the crop by pathogenic sporetypes, by employing continuous volumetric Tilakair Sampler. The experiments were conducted for two summer seasons. In all 82 airborne microbial components were trapped, out of which 77 were the fungal spore types while remaining 5 included pollengrains, hyphal fragments, insect parts,plant parts & unidentified group. The airborne spores of Cercosporidium sp., Puccinia sp., Alternaria sp., Myrothecium sp., and Leptosporium sp., were found to be pathogenic causing huge losses to the crop. The role of meteor ological parameters over thespore concentration was observed. The correlation between airbor ne pathogenic microbial components, weather parameters, growth stages of the crop plant and subsequently their effect on disease incidence on the crop was assessed.
