Viking starts North Sea journey

Lundin Oil is gearing up to spin off some North Sea assets in a new company - Viking Oil and Gas (see E&P Daily 22 March).The new firm will be separately listed and its assets will include interests in four currently producing fields, Jotun on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and Broom, Heather and Thistle which it operates on the UKCS. The assets will also include the Alvheim field on the NCS which is expected to start production in the late second quarter or early third quarter of 2007.
