The method involves inputting a route of a journey to be carried between starting and destination points by a communication interface, and transmitting the route to a computer via another communications interface. An optimal route for the journey is determined by the computer based on data related to expected weather conditions (200) on the route, a traffic state (400a) on the route, and a car state (400b). A time for journey between the points is determined based on the optimal route, and an optimal departure time for a user is determined, where the user is alerted at the departure time. An independent claim is also included for a computer readable recording medium storing a program for alerting departure for a user of a vehicle wishing to make a journey.
