Shared cornerstones

When it comes to the traditional building blocks of education, few homilies evoke more nods and grins than the good old reading, 'riting, and 'rithmatic: the three Rs. While e-learning as an institution is far too young to claim anything close to this kind of traditional sense of foundation, we are beginning to see components for an effective e-learning platform emerge as fundamental in their own right. From painful trials of fits and starts, through home-grown solutions, to increasingly integrated platforms, successful e-learning implementations across the globe are emerging with shared characteristics. These implementations, however disparate in application, delivery or industry will be familiar to one another; they'll share the alma mater of the School of Hard Knocks. At this class reunion the report cards are in, and the highest marks go to those who have studied the three Rs of e-learning.
