摘要

The decision to place a loved one in institutional care is often fraught with feelings of guilt and emotional stress. Do minority caregivers differ from white caregivers in their response to this situation? I (B W) conducted a longitudinal mixed methods study focusing on placement decision-making of 46 caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease and other irreversible dementias (ADRD) (Winslow, 2008). Findings from the qualitative data of this study illustrate the unique concerns that a small subsample of ethnically and racially diverse family caregivers (N = 12) expressed as they discussed their experiences with placement decision-making. Three caregivers were African American, 8 were Hispanic/Latino and one was Middle Eastern.
