INTEGRATED URBAN DRAINAGE

The ABE attended this conference as an Environmental Partner of CIWEM. The aims of the conference were to emphasise the need for IUD (Integrated Urban Drainage) for both surface and foul waters, consider and build on the Department of the Environment Food and Rural Affairs' (Defra) IUD pilot and review examples of good practice, with a view to understanding and overcoming the existing barriers to facilitate implementation. David Richardson of Defra, expressed a hope that the pilots will look at a range of incidents on varying scales. The timetable for evaluation of the pilots and development of the final guidance and regulatory impact assessment aims for completion between January and March 2008.
