Dong, Iberdrola Seal LNG Deal

Denmark’s Dong Energy said Thursday that it has finalized a 10-year LNG supply contract with Spanish utility Iberdrola (IOD Mar.18,p8). Iberdrola is to deliver 1 Bcm/yr to the Gate LNG terminal in Rotterdam starting late next year. Dong said the deal includes an option for a five-year extension. The terminal at Port of Rotterdam is due for completion in 2011. Initial throughput capacity is 12 Bcm/yr, with the possibility of expansion to 16 Bcm/yr.
