EU Chiefs in DC to Talk Kyoto

Three top European Union officials will be in Washington, DC, early this week for talks with the new US administration and members of Congress on climate change.EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas - together with Czech Environment Minister Martin Bursik and his Swedish counterpart Andreas Carlgren, respectively the current and next presidents of the EU's council of environment ministers - will visit the US capital on Monday and Tuesday to focus on prospects for reaching a new landmark deal to curb greenhouse gas emissions at this December's UN Climate Conference in the Danish capital Copenhagen. Sweden takes over as chair of EU ministerial meetings in July.
