German Coal Plant Mulled

German utility EnBW, part owned by French state EDF, has dropped plans to build a coal-fired power station in Dorpen, northern Germany. The 900 MW project was due to be developed by EnBW and Swiss partner BKW Energie, which holds a 24.9% stake, and was announced in March 2009. Dorpen was planned as a combined heat and power plant, and was reportedly shelved after a potential heat customer decided to build its own gas-fired plant.
