German coal-fired power plant operator Steag said Monday itmay close unprofitable power plants in Germany as it reviews allbusiness units under its new Steag 2022 strategy launched Monday.According to Steag, the framework for conventional powergeneration in Germany has been changed fundamentally throughthe new energy policy with the preferred treatment of renewablesputting substantial pressure on owners and operators of fossilfueledpower plants.
